Makai Golf Club at Princeville resort on Kauai has come a long way since its multi-million dollar renovation finished in 2010. Robert Trent Jones Jr. revived one of Hawaii's sleeping beauties. Seashore paspalum now covers the fairways, greens and tees. Green surrounds were reshaped. New white Silica sand from Vietnam created bunkers that visually pop against a panoramic backdrop and spectacular cliff-top views of the Pacific come from five superb holes.

At just less than 6,500 yards from the championship tees, the Mountain Course at Kona Country Club on the Big Island is beautiful and playable. Sitting above the Pacific Ocean, there are views of the deep blue water below from almost every hole. Level lies are hard to come by, but the course isn't overly difficult.
