Old Blue course at Wailea Golf Club on Maui
The Old Blue course at Wailea Golf Club is the first of three courses at the club, located just off the coast of south Maui.
Old Blue originally opened in 1972, long before the luxury resort and residential developments that came to the area in the 1990s. The course was designed by Arthur Jack Snyder and has three sets of tees, playing to a maximum distance of 6,765 yards. Old Blue opens with a dogleg-right par 4 from an elevated tee towards the mountains of west Maui, and there are several magnificent vantage points similar to this throughout the course. Another unique aspect to Old Blue is the short, par-3 finishing hole over water.
Of the three Wailea Golf Club courses, Old Blue is the only one with residential developments around many of the holes, but they sit will off the generous fairways. The side-by-side Emerald course and Gold course, which play out of their own clubhouse, are set on volcanic lava rock. Old Blue plays out of its own clubhouse and is home to a restaurant and Irish Pub, Mulligan's. There is no driving range here, but those who play Old Blue have access to the range at the other clubhouse just down the road before their tee time.
